Bar "Filipek" was another of the catering establishments that operated on Stawowa Street. The building at number 9, where it was located, was built in the early 20th century and was owned by the merchant Georg Lippmann. It housed flour and hat warehouses, and the Borkowski brothers ran an electrical engineering workshop there. In the 1970s, two bars were located on the ground floor: Filipek and Jagoda.
Neon Filipek was one of those that remained in the memory of the people of Katowice for a long time. Despite its unsophisticated artistic form, it stood out from the other neon signs thanks to its distinctive figure, which bounced rhythmically, lifting its bowler hat.
