During the construction of the new PKP railway station building between 1964 and 1972 (recognised as the best example of the Brutalist architectural style in Poland), a block of buildings in the area of 3 Maja, Młyńska, and Stawowa streets was demolished to make way for the main structure. It was from the facade of one of the demolished buildings at 3 Maja Street 28 that PUSS IN BOOTS invited people to buy children's and youth footwear. The enormous figure, standing over 5 meters tall, was perfectly visible not only from Freedom Square and the Market Square, but even from under the Silesian Theatre.
Almost opposite, the facade of the tenement house at the intersection of 3 Maja and Stawowa streets was decorated with a neon advertisement for the MARYSIA children's clothing store.
