The building at the corner of Holtzestrasse and Sedanstrasse, which are today Mariacka and Mielęckiego streets, was built in 1901. From the beginning, the ground floor of the building was intended for commercial activity. Even before World War II, elegant delicatessens were located here. The name "Golden Horn" appeared in the 1950s, although initially in a slightly different location – at the corner of today's Staromiejska and Dyrekcyjna streets. The venue was later moved to its final location. It's also likely that the stylised neon sign, which was placed above the entrance to the venue, dates from this period. On the sides were smaller illuminated elements: the abbreviation of the deli owner's name, PSS Społem, and decorative references to the establishment's assortment. After the change of regime, private owners, with varying degrees of success, tried to continue the best traditions of delicatessens.
